Mike Jones announces his intention to run for State Representative

Mike Jones announced his intention to run for State Representative, District 52 in the Republican Primary to be held on May 24.  The district consists of Scott and Yell Counties.

“As a business owner I know we face challenges everyday from government regulations to rising costs of fuel, feed, chemicals, labor shortages and many other things we can not control. As I dealt with those issues on a daily basis, I realized I was interested going to the Capital to try and help make a difference since the life blood of our rural communities are the farmers, ranchers and small businesses. Education is another important issue. As a father I know not only should our children receive a solid education but have opportunities to explore other program including agriculture and trade practices including electrical, plumbing and carpentry. Health care is another issue that impacts our communities.  Health insurance costs are so high it is out of reach for many of our families and I want to look for solutions that offer affordable options.  I ask for the citizens of Scott and Yell Counties to consider my candidacy. I promise to be a commonsense voice because I understand the needs of our rural way of life.”

Jones is a 4th generation farmer/rancher and has farmed hay, corn, soybeans, and wheat on 1832 acres located in Yell and Pope Counties.  In addition, he raises and sells grass fed cattle and registered Quarter horses.  He has his own trucking fleet and buys, sells and delivers agriculture equipment.  Jones graduated Southern Arkansas University with a degree in Agriculture.  He is a member of the River Valley Cattle Club, River Valley Coop, the Arkansas Cattleman’s Association, Delta Waterfowl Association, and the Harley Davidson Owners Group.  He holds a lifetime membership with the American Quarter Horse Association.
